Georgia: The Special Investigation Service (SIS) arrested an employee who is a law enforcement officer of the Special Assignments Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on charges of violence and threats.
The investigation found that the defendant systematically abused his wife. After separating from her, from December 2022 to April 2024, through telephone communication, as well as by sending voice messages via an internet application, the law enforcement officer systematically threatened the victim and his family members with life.
Also, on August 22, 2023, the defendant wrote a threatening text on the gate in the yard of the victim’s residence and left a weapon there to intimidate them. In addition, on October 25, 2023, in child abduction, the accused confronted the victim, threatened to kill life by demonstrating a firearm and fired three times from the gun after leaving the scene. Also, on March 29, 2024, the accused sent voice messages to the victim via the application “WhatsApp”, where he again threatened to kill his life.
The Special Investigation Service carried out emergency investigations after treating the injured woman. Witnesses were questioned, searched the scene, recovered evidence and electronic information, and on April 10, 2024, a law enforcement officer was arrested on charges of domestic violence and endangerment.
