Special Training for Prosecutor officers held in Georgia

To make the Prosecutors Familer with latest development the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and the Council of Europe (CoE) with cooperation and coordination initiated another course of specialisation on the topic of crimes committed against particular Gender.

Tbilisi: In the Republic of Georgia, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and the Council of Europe (CoE) with cooperation and coordination initiated another course of specialisation for the employees of the prosecutor’s office. This specialised course was held on the topic of crimes committed against particular Gender.

It is to be specifically mentioned that almost 17 prosecutors and four investigators of the Prosecutor’s Office were trained under the theme of this course. Notably, at this stage, 167 employees of the prosecutor’s office were also specialised in crimes committed to disturb law and order in the locality.

During this four-day intensive training course participants of course discussed national and international legislation and standards on discrimination and motivated crimes. The trainers apprised the prosecutors with information about the effective prosecution of these categories of crimes and the practical aspects of supporting state agencies during the trial.

Meanwhile, separate sessions with the involvement of an expert psychologist were also held alongside the course, where the participants discussed the psychological characteristics of victims of crime motivated by restlessness and also came to know about abusers and the psycho-emotional aspects of their psyche.

As per the information by order of the Prosecutor General of Georgia, since the month September 1, 2020, the investigation of crimes committed with the motive of insurgency Georgian prosecutor’s office bodies and structural divisions led the investigation process and victim support is carried out by specialised prosecutor’s Office investigators.

These initiatives of the Prosecution Agency of Georgia have a significant impact on increasing the quality of activity and the effectiveness of the fight against crime.

It is worth mentioning that a dedicated presentation was held on this occasion as well. To make the attendees familiar with the detailed aspects of the motivated crime, the presentation was displayed on the Digital Board.

During the session participants also asked questions to the trainers, which were immediately addressed by the trainer on the spot.Participants also share their valuable suggestions and experiences with trainers and their colleagues.

Notably Prosector office of Georgia actively organsied such training courses and seminars for its employees.Recently, many meetings, conferences, and seminars were hosted by the prosecution office under the sixteen-day campaign against Gender-Based violence.

Domestic Violence is still the biggest problem in Georgia with a maximum number of women as victims. The prosecutor’s office has launched many drives to prevent domestic violence and protect women from domestic violence crime.

The representative of the Prosecution office stated that these Qualification improvement courses for specialised employees in this area would continue actively in the future as well.
