Tbilisi: The members of the Special Investigation Service of Georgia have arrested a citizen of a foreign country for sexual extortion (Sextortion). The accused belonged to the Republic of Turkey and met the victim through social media sites.
Notbaly after the initial investigation  it was found that the 24-year-old Georgian girl living in Tbilisi met a 45-year-old Turkish man through a social network. They met each other in Batumi and formed a loving, intimate relationship.
Moreover during sexual intercourse with the victim  the accused citizen of Turkey secretly recorded videos of the victim with his mobile phone  as well as secretly transcribed the intimate photo-video material depicting the secrets of the girl’s personal life from his phone.
Meanwhile  when the victim girl decided to end her relationship with the Turkish citizen, the accused started blackmailing her with secretly obtained footage and demanded   girl to restore her relationship with him.
After receiving a refusal from the victim the accused to take revenge spread a secretly recorded video of sexual intercourse with the victim to the family members and acquaintances of the woman using various social networks.
Moreover  the accused has also created fake pages on “Instagram” and “Facebook” in the name of the victim and her family members  wherein in 2022, 2023, and 2024  he systematically posted intimate photo-video material of the victim woman in public.  In addition  he wrote to unknown persons the victim’s name and provided her contact information , sent intimate files  which also caused huge harassment to the victim.
The Special Investigation Service  after contacting the victim  conducted appropriate investigative actions with complete protection of the confidentiality of the victim to protect her right to privacy.
A search was carried out in the hotel room of a Turkish citizen exposed in the crime during which photo-video material of the intimate content of the victim woman was seized. The seized material includes the addresses of the social network sites created in the name of the victim and which were used to spread the secret of the victim’s private life.
The accused was arrested and has been charged with the crime provided for in Article 157 of the Criminal Code. The crime is punishable by up to 8 years of imprisonment.
