Georgia: The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia donated 3902 sports equipment to 51 National Sports Federations. The event was held in the rehabilitated multifunctional sports complex in the village of Dighomi.
The event was attended by the Acting Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Yoseb Bagaturia, the Director of “SportsmenService” Ltd., Geronti Tsindeliani, presidents, vice presidents, representatives of federations, and athletes.
To promote sporting success and ensure the honourable participation of national teams in various international tournaments, the Ministry allocates annually to its recognized sports federations the purchase of sports equipment for national and age teams. Because the equipment purchased by sporting federations is of different manufacturers and grades, and the rule of using national symbols is not followed, it was decided to establish a uniform standard.
For this purpose, the Ministry’s Sports Department held up to 60 meetings with 51 national sports organizations recognized by the Ministry in 2023. The National Olympic Committee of Georgia was actively involved in the process to share experience.
Due to the needs of the sports federations recognized by the Ministry to develop and promote sports, the Ministry has applied to “SportsmenService” Ltd., which purchased various sports equipment worth 4 639 478 GEL within the budget allocations allocated by the Ministry.
The sports equipment given to federations is from the “Puma” company. It includes trousers, sweatshirts, long-sleeved shirts, gym shorts, sweatshirts, shorts, outing t-shirts, sweatpants, short-sleeved T-shirts, hats, caps, socks, sneakers, sandals, large travel bags, and backpacks.
Considering the great history and past achievements of Georgian sport, it is essential that the Georgian national team is dignifiedly represented alongside other countries at international competitions, and the unified sports equipment promotes the representation of national teams properly. It is noted that the scale of the project is unprecedented, which will mainly contribute to the development of sports in the country and the success of Georgian athletes.
