Both beginner and professional mountaineers will benefit from the sports equipment donated by the Ministry. This significant contribution will enhance the safety and performance of our mountaineers. It should be noted that in 2023, the Ministry donated sports equipment and inventory worth 305 000 GEL to the Federation.

With the Ministry of Sports’s support, Georgian mountaineers hiked several peaks, both in Georgia and the Himalayan mountains and Patagonia. It is noteworthy that, with the support of the Ministry, a mountaineering school was established for the first time in the history of Georgian mountaineering. This initiative, along with the upcoming Ailam mountaineering camp, demonstrates the Ministry’s long-term commitment to the development and promotion of mountaineering in Georgia.

A rigorous selection process was conducted to choose 25 listeners from 120 applicants. These individuals will gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience under the guidance of professional instructors for three years.

To revive the great tradition of Georgian mountaineering and popularize it, the Ministry of Sports started the construction of the Ailam mountaineering camp in Lentekhi municipality in 2023. The project’s cost is 3 311 493 GEL, and its completion is planned for 2024.

According to the project, the two-story building of modern standards will have a conference hall, rooms for administration, a living area, bathrooms, a kitchen, and a doctor’s room. It will also be adapted for the disabled and have an independent power source.
