It is to be specifically mentioned that the Georgian national football team will now be eligible to enter the knockout round after a tough win over Portugal at UEFA Euro 2024. With this victory, the team also became the third-placed team in the tournament.

It is also worth mentioning that in this high-stakes match  Khvicha Kvaratskhelia  a winger on the  Georgian national team scored his first goal at the Championship in the second minute of the match. The next move came when Georgia doubled its lead in the 57th minute on a penalty by Georges Mikautadze. This happened just after Luka Lochoshvili tripped into the box.

Notably  Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze scored a goal in each half  paving the way for Georgia’s victory which ensured they joined their opponents in progressing from Group F.

Although Portugal stepped up the pace as they pushed for a quick response they failed to counter Georgia. On the other hand  Giorgi Mamardashvili pushed over a free-kick from range before being perfectly placed to catch João Palhinha’s fierce effort.

The both sides try to put maximum pressure on each other but it was only Georgia which was successful to defeat the opposition team at the last.

The hit after another to score pattern continued after the restart. Ronaldo’s precise guess deflected onto the roof of the net within two minutes  but Georgia retained a threat at the other end with the move of Kvaratskhelia.

At the same time  Portugal failed to understand the strategy of Georgia. It must also be taken into consideration that Georgia might have increased their lead through Giorgi Chakvetadze and Zuriko Davitashvili.  On the other hand Mamardashvili denied Nélson Semedo and Diogo Dalot before the Georgian celebrations could begin in earnest.
