SRCA hosts outdoor meeting of Committee of Agrarian Issues

Georgia: The Agricultural Scientific Research Center (SRCA) of Georgia in Jighaura hosted an outdoor meeting of the Committee of Agrarian Issues on May 30, 2025, Friday.

The Scientific Research Center for Agriculture (SRCA) of Georgia posted glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page. SRCA also posted a small note along with the photographs.

According to the note shared by the research center, it should be noted that the exit meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Issues of the Georgian Parliament on the basis of the perennial cultures of the SP Agricultural Scientific and Research Center Jighaura was attended by the members of the Parliamentary Apparatus.

During the event, Center Director Levan Ujmajuridze presented a presentation, which included both the activities at the Jighaura base, as well as the strategic directions of the Center as a whole, the results achieved during 2024, and the future visions. It emphasized the importance of the Science and Research Center in developing the country’s agrarian sector. It helps in protecting agro-diversity, and promoting innovative approaches.

Moreover, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili, First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Giorgi Volski, and Minister of Environment and Agriculture David Songhulashvili were also present at the event. It should be noted that, together with Levan Ujmajuridze, they spoke with the youth about the strategic importance of the Scientific and Research Center of Agriculture.

Furthermore, special attention was paid to the role of agrarian science, education, and innovation in the development of the country. The guests emphasized the need to engage the younger generation in scientific and practical processes. It is an important prerequisite for the sustainable and progressive development of Georgia’s agrarian sector.

Notably, the guests visited the unique collection of Jighaura Base – varieties of vine and grape crops, as well as the center’s laboratories and the newly designed museum space, which puts a visual emphasis on the centuries-old traditions of Georgian vineyard and horticulture.
