Georgia: The eighth session of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council for Combating Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear (CBRB) Threats was organized by the State Security Service (SSS) on December 18, 2024.
The event was opened by the First Deputy Head of the State Security Service, Chairman of the Coordination Council, Alexi Batiashvili. He spoke about the activities and results achieved under the action plan of the National Strategy for Reduction of the CBRB in 2024
Alexi Batiashvili also stressed the importance of successful cooperation and inter-agency coordination among the Coordination Council members in the direction of reducing the threats of CBRB and strengthening the country’s capability.
At the same time, he spoke about the role of regional and international cooperation in developing mechanisms to combat the CBRB threats. According to him, the mentioned formats are a unique way to introduce international standards, best practices and effective approaches to responding to challenges.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksande Darakhvelidze, Deputy Minister of Refugees, Labor, Health and Social Protection from the Occupied Territories of Georgia, Tea Giorgadze, Deputy Minister for Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Defense, Paata Patiashvili And the head of the National Security Council, Levan Zhasiashvili participated in the meeting of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council to Combat Threats of the CBRB.
The event was supported by the EU’s Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Risk Reduction Initiative and was attended by up to 60 representatives from different agencies. The next meeting of the Council will be held in 2025.
