Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew addressed the nation via the radio interview on several key national matters. He emphasized the necessity of building stronger relationships between the Caribbean and Africa.
The Prime Minister’s video was shared by the radio on the official Facebook Page on 28 August 2025. He provided residents of St. Kitts and Nevis with an update on the progress made so far. To create a Caribbean Center, he recalled that they had partnered with the University of Cape Coast in Ghana.
By this cooperation, the nation took the lead to link Africa and the Caribbean. The Prime Minister is pushing for an African Union ambassador to be in CARICOM and vice versa.
Other nations are seeking to understand how to interact with Africa, as observed by the Prime Minister. They are also exploiting the potential of the continent to develop their nations; the Caribbean can follow suit.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew emphasized that the Caribbean must harness its historical links to its advantage. He noted that there are a lot of benefits that can be derived from the relationship with Africa, such as resources, culture, and history.
The officials opined that there needs to be cooperation between the Caribbean and Africa on development projects. The Prime Minister said that he had a chance to talk with the Nigerian president.
In July, President Tinubu traveled to Saint Lucia to meet with Caribbean leaders. The Prime Minister was proud of suggesting a union between St. Kitts and Nevis and Nigeria.
On his recent trip to Saint Lucia, he spoke of the feasibility of getting visas that would enable St. Kitts and Nevis nationals to freely enter Nigeria.
Dr. Drew further added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs will travel to Nigeria early next month. This is a good move towards enhancing the relations between Nigeria and St. Kitts and Nevis.
