Tbilisi: The European court of human rights also known as Strasbourg Court have decided in favour of Georgia and confirm territorial integrity of Georgia in Abkhazia. The court also blamed Russia for illegal occupation of region.
The Georgian Ministry of Justice have taken to social media and revealed detailed about this information. The official Facebook page of Ministry of stated “ the historic decision is once again proved the claim of Georgian control over the disputed region once again.”
The ministry of justice in its statement added the Georgia government have achieved another judicial success in Strasbourg Court. The justice ministry is very thankful to the Strasbourg Court for authenticating claim of Georgia over the region. The decision of court also proved that Russia is violating territorial authority of Georgia.
The Georgian government has won another victory in the Strasbourg Court, which once again confirmed Georgia’s territorial integrity. It is worth to note that the Strasbourg Court have recently produced its decision in one of famous case.
The court finally decided case “Vaganova and Others v. Georgia and Russia”. While deciding the case court have made this clear once again that the Georgian government claim is rights.
The court further announced Russian administration is directly responsible for violations of property rights in the occupied territory of Abkhazia and should stop it immediately.
Court also take cognisance of all complaints which have been filed independently by individual belonging to this As Russia is exercising full control over the occupied territory so Russia cannot absolve from its responsibility as well.
The Strasbourg Court at the same time also underscored that as per the international law, Abkhazia is an integral part of Georgia. This does not matter if Georgia is not controlling the region due to political, economics and military interference by Russia.
The court also recognised that although Georgia is not able to exercise its control over the region, Evan then Georgian government is using all measures to protect rights of citizens living there for long time.
