Georgia:Â Members of the Georgian delegation, led by Koba Khubunaya, Acting Director of the Film Center, held successful meetings with film industry representatives during the 77th International Film Festival of Cannes.
A meeting was held with one of Europe’s largest production associations, Ace Producers. Natalie Sholten and Meijin Fabias, representatives of Ace Producers, discussed with the film center delegation the possibility of holding a working meeting for Georgian producers in Georgia and various issues of future cooperation.
In addition, the representatives of Leitz Cine (Leika), one of the world’s leading film lens production companies, expressed their desire to cooperate with the film center. It is planned to provide educational activities for film cameramen, light-makers, and other film specialists in Georgia, bringing famous and recognized cameramen from the film industry and holding their masterclasses.
A meeting was held with Ou Shimizu, curator of Tokyo International Film Festival programs, regarding the possible presentation of full-length Georgian films at the Festival.
Georgian-French producer Ana Tarasashvili discussed the online platform “LaCinetek,” which unites films from different countries.
During the meeting with Indian producer Naresh Makerla, the parties discussed possible shootings in Georgia.
Dominic Button, director of the French Cinema Center, CNC, spoke about the possibility of cooperation between the institutions of the two countries at the meeting with the representatives of the cinema center delegation.
A fruitful meeting was held with Quincy Q (Director General of the West Lake International Documentary Film Festival (IDF) Competition) regarding the presentation of Georgian Documentary Films at the Festival.
The Georgian side also held a meeting on the online platform Gocreator with the company’s co-founder, Lara Maria Jerdan. The meeting discussed issues related to the placement of Georgian films (trailers), suitable locations, and the creation of financial benefits.
Also, a successful meeting was held with Eske Iven, the director of the “Nantes Franco-German Cultural Center,” with whom they talked about submitting to the Georgian Cannes Film Festival.
In addition, during the meeting with Venice Festival programmer Paolo Bertolini, they discussed presenting Georgian films at the Festival.
During the Festival, the delegation of the National Center of Cinematography of Georgia will meet several more representatives of the cinema field.
It should be noted that on May 19 and 20, the film Citizen Saint, directed by Tinatin Kajrishvili and produced by Lasha Khalvashi, was screened, and representatives of the distribution company and sales agents attended.
As it is known, 14-25 May, Kani hosts the 77th International Film Festival, in which the National Cinema Center of Georgia participates with the pavilion. The Georgian Pavilion, represented by the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, SIP “Produce in Georgia” and the National Wine Agency, presents the wealthiest heritage of Georgian cinema, presents new projects, promotes Georgia as the most important country for film shooting in Eastern Europe.
In order to properly present and popularize Georgian cinema, the cinema center delegation includes several Georgian directors and producers. These will be able to introduce the representatives of various production companies and make plans for joint productions and the development of the country’s film productions. This will help establish international connections for Georgian filmmakers and ensure the success of their ongoing projects.
The delegation of filmmakers and producers has the opportunity to take an interest in the European market with their work or future projects and promote the presentation of Georgian cinema. During the Festival, it is planned to advertise Georgia as an attractive country for film producers, for which representatives of the program “Shoot in Georgia” are working with the National Cinema Center team at the Georgian Pavilion.
