Georgia: The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth delegation of Georgia, led by Deputy Minister Tariel Gugava, participated in the Ministerial of European Higher Education Area (EHEA) titled – “Tirana – 2024”.
At the conference held within the framework of the ministry, Tariel Gugava addressed the attending society and discussed the steps taken to promote the development of higher education in Georgia. The Deputy Minister said that Georgia fully shares the vision of the European higher education space and the Bologna Process for creating an inclusive and innovative higher education system.
According to Tariel Gugava, one of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth’s main goals is to provide equal access to higher education in Georgia and implement student-oriented learning mechanisms in higher educational institutions.
Within the framework of the ministry, the participants of the conference discussed improving the higher education system. They discussed the common goals set in this direction and the importance of international cooperation.
It is noteworthy that the Georgian delegation held meetings with representatives of different European delegations in parallel with the ministerial and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.
The Albanian capital, Tirana, will host the “Tirana—2024” ministry on May 29-30. Delegations from 49 countries participating in the Bologna process and members of various international organizations, including representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, the National Center for the Development of Education Quality, and the Georgian Association of Student Organizations, are participating in the event.
Ahead of a meeting of Bologna Process ministers, the European University Association has outlined critical considerations for the future of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). On 29-30 May, 2024, a Ministerial Conference in Tirana, Albania, will assess progress toward the vision.
Georgia joined the Bologna process, which considers the creation of a unified European space for higher education, in 2005 at the Bergen Summit. After that, a number of important and fundamental changes were implemented in the higher education system.
