Tbilisi: Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, inspected the exhibition of Georgian agroproduction organized during the Farmer’s Day.
 The Minister felicitated the farmers on their special day stating- “Congratulations to every farmer on this day. These people work hard, making money, strengthening their families and the economy of the country. Farmer’s Day is established to appreciate them and their work. Over the years, our Government has been actively assisting farmers with primary production, processing, marketing events, production realization.
 Further, he said that with joint efforts, country managed to produce more and more exports in agriculture every year. To promote growth of competitive production, government’s support to farmers will certainly continue.
 The exhibition was organized within the framework of the campaign “More Georgian quality products” and 30 farmers benefiting from programs funded by state and international donor organizations participated.
 At the exhibition-market local produce honey, aromas, jams, dried fruits, cherries, churchkhela, wine, chacha, meat products, cheese, juice and micro herbs were presented.
 The event is organized by the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, EU (EU), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), USAID Agriculture Program and Georgia Held in partnership with the Los Farmers Association.Farmer’s Day has been celebrated in Georgia since 2015.Â
Exhibition-fair was held on the territory of the Exhibition Center “ExpoGeorgia” (6th Pavilion), which was also visited by representatives of the Georgian Parliament, Government, Diplomatic Corps and international donor organizations.
 At the end of the day, at 18:00 in the hotel “Rums”, the event of the farmer of the year award will be held.
