The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, met with Olympic Committee President Leri Khabelov and the team of the capital, which won the Georgian Youth Olympic Festival.
The Tbilisi City Hall shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page on June 15, 2026, Monday. The City Hall also shared a small notea bout the meeting along with its glimpses.
Symbolically, the mayor of the capital took the cup for the winning city from the Olympic Committee, and in the future, it will be placed in the multi-functional community center of Tbilisi City Hall.
The mayor of the capital addressed the members of the winning team with a speech and congratulated them on their success. “It’s a pleasure to see so many young people taking part in sporting competitions,” said Kakha Kaladze.
According to him, many young people are involved in various sports, and the municipality will actively implement projects supporting them in the future.
A large-scale sports project was implemented for the first time this year on the initiative of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia, in which the Tbilisi City Hall of Culture, Education, Sports, and Youth Affairs, City Service, and the Tbilisi team participated.
Competitions were held in 17 sports, and 1,200 athletes from all over Georgia participated in them. The capital team represented with an absolute advantage in almost every category and won a special cup.
The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, Andrea Basilaya, Head of Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs Civil Service Irakli Gvilava, representatives of the Municipal Hall, Ministry of Sport, City Council, and Parliament, as well as coaches, festival organizers, and participants.
