The delegation of the Tbilisi city council led by Chairman Giorgi Tkemaladze visited Sweden. He was accompanied by the first Deputy Chairman of the City Council Giorgi Akhvlediani as well as the Chairman of the Health and Social Affairs Commission of the City Council Zurab Chikviladze and the Chairman of the City Council Names and Symbols Commission Nino Vardosanidze.
It is to be specifically mentioned that under the framework of the visit and support of the Embassy of Georgia in the Kingdom of Sweden representatives of the Tbilisi City Council met with Olle Burrell. Olle Burrell is the chairman of the municipality council of Stockholm the capital of Sweden.
Both sides on this occasion have discussed many issues.They also assessed the dynamics of relations between the representative bodies of both countries and expressed their readiness to move a new stage of cooperation.
The topics that were discussed included the role of Tbilisi City Council in the European integration process of Georgia. They also discussed the reforms that have been implemented and the others which are under the process of implementation. The mutual discussion also touched on the Swedish model of city planning and management.
This is noteworthy that the representatives of the Tbilisi City Council visited the historical Uppsala University, Sweden. Here they met with the vice-president of the City Municipality Council (Council) Karl Lindberg.
The members of the Tbilisi City Council got detailed information about the unique documents, maps, and rare books that have been preserved in the special storage of the Upsala University Library. The chairman of the Tbilisi City Council noted down his views in the guest book of the University.
The city council delegation of the Tbilisi City Council visited the Stockholm Administration Centre for the Elderly also. Here Sweden’s leading experts gave a presentation on the administration’s work and the Swedish systems of social services for the elderly.
