Georgia:Â Tbilisi City Hall issued a statement on May 26, 2024, regarding the problems caused by Heavy rainfall in the different districts of the capital, Tbilisi. In particular, there were facts of landslides and tree felling. Also, a protective wall collapsed at several locations.
Due to a landslide in the Gldani district, Giorgi Sti settlement, the family had to move from their nearby house to a hotel.
The relevant authorities, in close collaboration with representatives of the municipal council and the emergency management service, are actively engaged in the elimination of the aftermath of the disaster. Comprehensive work is underway in all the affected areas, ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens.
It is important to address the misinformation circulating on social media platforms, particularly ‘Facebook’, regarding the water level in the Vere Valley. They said, “We assure you that the information provided by the relevant services of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, who are conducting 24-hour monitoring at various stations, is accurate and reliable”.Â
According to the National Environment Agency, the water level in Vere Valley, as well as in other rivers throughout Georgia, began to decrease.
As the public knows, the Vere Valley has many horses that have been systematically inspected and cleaned.
In addition, after the 2015 flood, the river Vere was formed, the dam was constructed, and various important works were carried out to ensure its sustainability.
Therefore, the current situation in the Vere River valley is not a threat.
