In order to ensure the smooth movement of public transport and protection of road safety, a bus lane has been set up on
Tengiz Sheshelidze and George Balanchin streets, the Mindeli Bridge, and the metro station “Sarajishvili”.
Within the framework of the change, the lane from Beliashvili Street to the Mindeli Bridge was changed. Other road markings were also drawn on these sections.
The extension of the bus lane on the Mindeli Bridge is important for developing a network of public transport and faster commuting, as well as increased passenger service on the area’s routes.
Buses moving from George Balanchini Street to the metro station “Sarajishvili”: N292, N293, N304, N313, N321, N335, N351, N459, N518. In fact, the 10-15 minute intervals set on these routes were impossible. Intervals were increased at least two to three times due to overloaded traffic. The most difficult situation was for the part of the population who would move from Didi Dighmi to the metro station “Sarajishvili” for the purpose of moving further and vice versa.
When the passengers waited for N293 and N321 buses from Didi Dighmi at the metro station “
Sarajishvili” in the evening peak hours, the waiting time reached 30-45 minutes. At that time, a large number of passengers from the metro could not be taken together by the bus, and the remaining citizens expressed great dissatisfaction with themselves.
As of today, the situation is radically different and municipal transport moves much more freely in this area. In addition, 18-metre buses have been replaced on the N321, and two bus units have been added to the N293, resulting in reduced waiting times.
Along with updating the traffic scheme on the above-mentioned sections, traffic flows are being monitored.
