Tbilisi, Georgia: A five-member family in Tbilisi has received a new home ahead of the “Tbilisoba” celebrations. Teimuraz Ninua’s family, officially recognized as homeless by the City Hall’s inter-agency commission, was granted social housing under the municipality’s support program.
The Mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, visited the Ninuebi family together with Vice-Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze, congratulated them on the newcomers, and told them that the municipality will help their family in the future, if needed.
The Mayor of Tbilisi said, “Congratulations. I join in on your joy. I know you’ve been waiting a long time for an apartment. We will support you in every way we can.” “We had nearly 400 homeless families that will be fully satisfied with housing by the end of the year,” he added
“I wish you success and all the best to your family. We are also very happy when we see happy people. We will do our best to make others happy with the work we have done, – said Kakha Kaladze.
In Ninu’s family, along with the Mayor of Tbilisi, Deputy Mayor Andria Basilia, as well as the Head of the Civil Service of Health and Social Services, Chairman of the Commission Gela Chiviashvili, were present.
“Registration of homeless people is the responsibility of the Tbilisi Municipality. Over the past eight years, these families have been counted and handed over housing. This time, we will give a fully furnished and equipped apartment to the Ninu family of five”, – said Gela Chiviashvili.
After 23 years of renting, the Ninuebi family in Samgori district, a three-room apartment equipped with furniture and all necessary equipment, was given to the family of Tbilisi City Hall under the “Registration of the homeless and providing them with shelter/housing” program.
Those families who have been granted homeless status by the Tbilisi City Hall Homeless Registration and Housing Provision Commission will be handed over step by step according to the resources of the Municipality Hall.
At this stage, the process of fully satisfying the 400 families, who have been granted the status before 2022, is underway.
