Tbilisi hosts concert of 32 Georgian Salotbaro schools

With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Anzor Erkomaishvili Folklore State Center named after Jansugh Kakhidze hosted an unprecedented scale concert of 32 Salotbaro schools.

Tbilisi, Georgia: With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Anzor Erkomaishvili Folklore State Center named after Jansugh Kakhidze hosted an unprecedented scale concert of 32 Salotbaro schools.

The event was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Salotbaro schools‘ establishment, and more than 500 pupils participated in it.

The concert was attended by Minister of Culture and Sports Thea Tsulukiani, founder of Salotbaro Schools, Anzor Erkomaishvili, wife Lali Seturidze, folklorist Eter Tataraidze, founder of Foundation “Georgian Choir,” Nana Gotua, artistic directors of folk ensembles, ethnomusicologists and representatives of different cultural fields. Also, the guests of the event were David, Metropolitan of Abba Alaverde, Metropolitan of Khoni and Samtredia, Metropolitan of Saba, Metropolitan of Zugdidi and Tsaishi Gerasime, Metropolitan of Akhaltsikhe, Tao-Klarjeti and Lazeti, Head of the Patriarchate’s Public Relations Service, Archpriest Andria Jaghmaidze. The Director of the State Folklore Center, Giorgi Donadze, led the evening.

At the center, named after Jansugh Kakhidze, pupils revived chants, songs, and choreographic samples from different parts of Georgia on stage. Ten years after the establishment of the first Salotbaro school, a generation has grown, which has become an important link in the continuous chain of live folklore transmission.

Under the leadership of Giorgi Donadze, the Director of the Folklore Center, folklorists, and Lottbar-Regents of the regions, rehearsals have been taking place in Tbilisi since May 20, and students have been actively preparing to meet the audience.

On May 26, 2024, the Minister of Culture and Sports, Thea Tsulukiani, attended the concert rehearsal, wished success to teachers and pupils of Salotbaro schools, and expressed her support on behalf of the Ministry; in addition, she talked about the possibilities of holding concerts in other halls.

It should be noted that the pupils of Salotbaro School will participate in the Georgian Festival of Levili, which lasts from May 24 to July 14, 2024.
