The chairman of the city hall of Tbilisi Giorgi Tkemaladze recently addressed a meeting cum presentation on the forthcoming 5th international “Ethnofest 2024”. The festival will take place in the capital city from 11 to 13 October 2024 at the “expoGeorgia” Pavilions: 4,5,6, Tsereteli Ave. 118, Tbilisi.”
Giorgi Tkemaladze the chairman of the Tbilisi City Council welcomed the guests with his speech and apprised them about the details of the event. According to the chairman, Ethnofest is one of the large-scale platforms of the creative industry. This is a platform where the combination of the handmade products of local and foreign representatives of artistic craft and design, master classes, international seminars, and workshops can be experienced.
Chairman while delving further into details stated “Traditional art and craft industry is an integral part of the diversity of Georgia. Almost all the regions of the country represent a unique blend of arts and crafts skills based nurtured under local and traditional way of life.
According to the chairman the Georgian culture is enriched with the blend of different skills preserved by the people of different regions as per their custom and fashions. The main skills include embroidery and weaving along with wood and stone carving,metalworking, enameling, ceramics, leatherworking etc . The city hall administration is always committed to providing these folk rural artists an platform to display their skills. He also added that the Tbilisi International Summit of Traditional Craft and Design has had and will continue to have the support of Tbilisi Municipality.
Tinatin Nibloshvili, Deputy Chairman of the City Council also addressed the guests and reiterated the importance of the event for the promotion of the art and cultural skills of artists across the country as well. Maka Dvalishvili, the founder of Ethnofest and the head of the International Art Center also attended the event and provided information about the summit program, participation conditions, participant selection criteria, training, and several competitions planned within the summit.
As mentioned above the ” Ethnofest 2024″ will be held in Tbilisi on October 11, 12, and 13 at the exhibition space of ” ExpoGeorgia”. Here participants will have the opportunity to see the works of designers, samples of folk crafts, and handmade products under one roof. Interested people can register up to June 30, 2024.
