Tbilisi, December 28, 2023: The Tbilisi Municipality Government held a meeting at the City Hall of Tbilisi on Tuesday to award the successful athletes from Tbilisi who represented the country in various international competitions.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, a former professional footballer, and other officials from the city administration, the National Olympic Committee of Georgia, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, and the sports federations attended the meeting.
Kaladze delivered a speech in which he thanked the athletes for their achievements and role in promoting the country and the city. He also emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the active involvement of the City Hall in supporting sports projects and infrastructure.
“The City Hall and myself, from my past life, are doing our best to make this destination more popular, promoting different projects, infrastructure creation and encouraging events. Your role in all of this is special. I want to say thank you for representing our country and being an encouragement to our youth and generations to come. Together, we can do everything to get more young people active and promote a healthy lifestyle,” Kaladze said.
He also noted that the success of Georgian sport in recent years is unprecedented and attributed it to the support and assistance from the government and the City Hall.
He also noted, “The success that Georgian sport has had in recent years is unprecedented. It doesn’t happen by accident. Without the support to create infrastructure projects and implement various programs, there would not be success.”
“I would like to express my gratitude to each of you, wish you success and be assured that in the coming years, there will be support and assistance from us to make Georgian athletes even more successful on the world stage,” he added.
The award ceremony recognized the achievements of Tbilisi athletes who won medals at European and World Cup events and National Championship Top League competitions. They were awarded cash awards and symbolic prizes on behalf of Tbilisi City Hall.
The event demonstrated the appreciation and commitment of the Tbilisi Municipality Government for the development and promotion of sports in the city and the country.
