Tbilisi, Georgia: The Tbilisi Development Foundation, within the framework of the project “New Tbilisi”, completed the rehabilitation-restoration of the National Palace of Pupil-Youth. The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, opened the renovated Palace of Pupils-Youth together with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze.
During his speech, the mayor of the capital drew attention to the importance of the National Palace and noted that future generations will receive knowledge and education in the already renovated building.
He stated, “This beautiful building, whose history dates back to the 19th century, remembers a lot of things. It keeps many interesting pages of our history. The architecture of the palace has changed many times. The palace garden built by the famous Georgian gardener Mikheil Mamulashvili also changed its face.”
According to the mayor, the capital around the palace has also changed, but the emotion that connects many people to these walls has remained unchanged – the feeling of joy, happiness, the feeling of living with music, color, poetry, the first steps on the stage, the victories achieved in science.
He added, “Renovated Pupil-Youth Palace again opens its doors with joy to our little ones. It is impossible not to make their dreams, their wishes come true here, because this beautiful and truly magical world is served by people who love the castle and children.
“As the mayor of Tbilisi and father of four children, I am a happy person today to have been allowed to contribute to giving new life to the palace,” said Kakha Kaladze.
According to him, within the project, the palace was completely renovated – underground communications were rehabilitated, historical furniture was restored, and the floor and ceiling were restored.
“I must note that behind this technical data is the hard work of many people who have done their jobs with love, dedication, and professionalism, Kakha Kaladze noted.
Within the scope of the project, the engineering networks were completely rehabilitated, the foundation of the building was strengthened, the main and auxiliary fences were structurally reinforced, the facade restoration, the roof, gutter, and rain systems were replaced, and the historic garden fence and cedar gate were renewed.
The building on Rustaveli Avenue was built in the middle of the 19th century. The palace stands out for its unique architectural spaces, such as the hall with mirrors, the marble hall, and the white hall. The National Palace of Pupils-Youth is a cultural and educational center that unites up to 4,500 pupils.
