The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure has announced a tender for detailed planning of the complete rehabilitation of the Tbilisi State Concert Hall – Philharmonic Building.
The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia shared the announcement on its official Facebook Page on January 31, 2026. The Georgian Municipal Development Fund shared the details of the competition along with the announcement.
The competition aims to complete the rehabilitation of the building, adapt it to modern requirements, integrate engineering systems, and perform functional renovation to preserve and restore the original architectural face of the Philharmonic.
The design process includes several stages: the detailed rehabilitation project of the monument should be developed, and the draft documentation should be prepared, a guide for the operation and maintenance of the building should be created; also, authorial supervision should be provided during the project implementation process.
The Tbilisi Philharmonic Rehabilitation framework includes: Expertise in the construction of staging equipment and adaptation of the building with modern technologies; Dismantling and replacing existing communications with lightweight, energy-efficient systems; Changing building plans to meet modern standards, including upgrading artist rooms, modernizing lifts, and the installation of security systems.
In addition, the full adaptation of the Philharmonic for people with special needs is planned; structural strengthening and restoration of the building’s facade, roof, frame, and stage; installation of acoustic systems and functional improvement of the hall; modernization of the decoration room and technical spaces; complete renovation of water supply, heating-cooling, and ventilation systems.
After the project is completed, the Philharmonic will again become a multifunctional cultural space, hosting large-scale local and international events.
The Municipal Development Foundation invites interested architects and organizations to participate in the competition and contribute their experience and vision to the successful implementation of the historical project.
