Tbilisi, Georgia: The Environmental Service of Tbilisi City Hall began the rehabilitation of Shartava Square on Kipshidze Street in the Vaki district on May 1, 2025, Thursday. The rehabilitation area includes approximately one hectare.
The Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze along with the deputy mayor of the capital Irakli Bendeliani and Andria Basilaya, as well as Paata Togonidze, the head of the Civil Service for the Environment and the head of the Vaki district David Kvinikadze visited the cinstruction site and got acquainted with the rehabilitation works.
It should be noted that this information was shared by the Tbilisi City Hall through its social media handles on its official Facebook page on the same day. The City hall also shared glimpses of the ongoing rehabilitation work in its recent post along with the information on Facebook.
As per the information shared by the Tbilisi City Hall, it should be noted that the works will include a footpath, outdoor lighting system, children’s and sports courts, parking furniture and rehabilitation an existing sports field.
During the inspection works, the Mayor of the capital Kakha Kaladze also met with the Chairman of the City Council, the Majoritarian Deputy of Vaki District Giorgi Tkemaladze.
As per the available information the cost of the project will be up to 2 million GEL and it will be financed from the capital’s budget.
During his visit to the project’s site, the mayor expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the residents of the municipality, who helped to demolish 12 garages as part of the rehabilitation project. The mayor appreciated them for their involvement and great support.
He added that “the area will be completely cleaned up and renovated with walking paths, children’s attractions, and leisure pavilions, as well as a separate space for animals, which is very important. The monument in honor of Juli Shartava will be updated.” The mayor continued, “We are pleased to have another renovated green area on Kipshidze Street in the fall.”
In addition, within the framework of the project, Greening works will also be carried out in the area, the irrigation system will be set up, different types of seedlings will be planted and grass will be planted.
The Mayor also said that more initiatives will be taken to make the city beautiful so that everyone can like it. He said that the municipal administration wants to make the city a favorite destination for tourists as well.
