Tbilisi Republican Hospital named after Nikoloz Kipshidze has a new director. Javara Ugrekhelidze was appointed as Director of Medical Institutions. The new director was introduced to the employees by the Minister of Refugees, Labor, Health, and Social Protection.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health, and Social Welfare of Georgia shared the glimpses of the gathering on its official Facebook Page on March 12, 2026, Thursday. The Georgian Health Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
According to the small note shared by the Georgian Health Ministry, it should be noted that Mikheil Sarjveladze introduced the plans for the development of the clinic to his employees and wished success to Javara Ugrekhelidze.
The new director of Republic Hospital has a PhD in medical sciences and many years of professional experience in both clinical and healthcare management. In the past years, he has worked in various managerial positions in the Georgian health care system.
From March 2024 until now, he has been holding the position of Head of Continuous Professional Development of the Department of Medical and Pharmaceutical Activity Regulatory Agency. Previously, in 2022-2024, he worked as the head of the Center for Continuing Education of Staff at the Central University Clinic named after academic Nikoloz Kipshidze, and at various times held the positions of Deputy Director, Quality Assurance of Medical Services, and Medical Manager.
Javara Ugrekhelidze is actively involved in academic activities; she is an invited lecturer at Tbilisi Medical Academy and Caucasus Universities. His scientific interests include mainly cardiology and hypertension, and his works have been published in international and Georgian medical publications.
The Minister of Health thanked the former director of the clinic for his service. Goga Meskhi will continue his work as Deputy Director of the Social Services Agency.
