Georgia: The Kutaisi State Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance concert was held in Tbilisi State Concert Hall. The Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth of Georgia, Thea Tsulukiani, attended the concert.
The concert of the State Academic Ensemble of Kutaisi Song and Dance in Tbilisi was also attended by Kutaisi Majority MP Zaza Lominadze, State Trustee of Imereti Zviad Shalamberidze, Mayor of Kutaisi Joseph Khakhaleishvili, artistic directors of Georgian Dance and Song Ensembles, choreographers and other cultural representatives.
The ensemble performed over twenty samples of Georgian folk choreography and songs in the evening. Among them were the dances “Kutaisuri,” Khorumi,” Samaia,” Mokheuri,” Narnari,” Farikaoba,” Imerian fun,” Abkhazian,” “Shilduri perennial,” Svanur,“ and others.
Kutaisi Song and Dance State Ensemble was established in 2010 and is active in the governance of Kutaisi Municipality Hall. Today, Kutaisi has a high-performance state academic ensemble of singing and dancing with a diverse repertoire that is actively involved in the city’s cultural life, conducting a number of solo concerts in Kutaisi and almost all regions of Georgia.
The ensemble participates in many international events and festivals. The private ensemble participated in events in 2011 in Trento, Italy, and 2013 in Bursa, Turkey. It also had a concert tour in 2015 in Hungary, 2018 in Switzerland, 2020 in Poland, 2015 in 2017, 2018, and 2019 in Ukraine.
Notably, the State Academic Ensemble of Kutaisi Song and Dance is participating in the second year of the Georgian Art and Culture Festival organized by the Ministry of Culture in Levili for the support of the Ministry of Culture.
The ensemble’s repertoire deserves great appreciation from European guests or the Georgian diaspora. In addition, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the ensemble will travel to Japan and, on June 15, participate in the festival “Days of Georgia in Japan.”
A choir of singers presented their works: at the VI International Festival of Batumi Folklore and Spiritual Music (2011 year. ) In 2013 – in Ukraine, at the Ternopil Clergy and Folklore Group Festival (1st place), in 2014 – in Lithuania, at the Vilnius International Folklore Festival, in 2015 – in Vilnius, at the “Tbilisioba“ celebration, in 2016.
It is essential that the ensemble actively cooperates with the State Center of Folklore of Georgia. The boys’ solo concert was held in the Folklore Center Concert Hall in 2019. The team took part in the 11th International Symposium on Traditional Multilingualism in 2022. In 2023, it performed at the Meliton Kukhianidze Georgian Folk Song Festival held in Gonio, and in 2024, at the international team festival “Golden Voices of Montserrat” (Grand Prix).
In December 2022, the State Song and Dance Ensemble was awarded the status of an academic ensemble, and on July 6, 2023, the Kutaisi State Academic Ensemble Star opened.
