Tbilisi: Tea Akhvlediani, the Georgian Minister of State lead the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for the implementation of the Strategy of engagement.
At the meeting, the reconciliation and inclusion policy and its strategic review process from April 2021 were discussed, led by the state minister’s apparatus and government agencies in close coordination with the government, the peaceful resolution of the conflict is carried out within the framework of the unified government approach.
In addition, the government commission summarized the activities carried out under the “Step towards a better future” peace initiatives and discussed the results achieved in this process, existing difficulties and future plans.
“Today’s discussion at the Interagency Commission, together with summarizing the activities done over the year and defining the next steps, were more important in terms of strengthening the coordination between the respective state agencies, which We are also participating in the implementation of state policy of reconciliation and inclusion as well as peace initiatives with a united government approach.
We discussed in-depth all important dimensions, results achieved, emerging trends and challenges present. Under the established common vision, we continue to work intensively and jointly with all our other partners to achieve greater results towards a full-scale conflict resolution -building trust among war-torn communities in terms of reconciliation.
Also, in order to ensure that each of our further steps is better and maximum adapted to the situation on the ground and the needs of the conflict-affected population,” said State Minister Tea Akhvlediani.
Intensive work of the Government Commission has started with a renewed composition from 2021, which consists of state agencies of Georgia, including the government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the former South Ossetia Autonomous Region Representatives of bt administration. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the administration of the Georgian Government and the National Security Council apparatus.
