Georgia: The Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia Tea Akhvlediani held a meeting with the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Director of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Bureau Ivana Zhivkovich.
The meeting was held on May 28, 2025, Wednesday. The Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia posted glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page. A small note about the meeting was also posted along with the glimpses.
The Minister of State expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the Assistant Secretary-General for his firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and emphasized the role of the United Nations in the peacebuilding process.
Tea Akhvlediani reviewed the priorities, goals, and tasks of the Minister of State, both in the direction of reconciliation and inclusion, as well as civil equality and integration policy.
At the meeting, the Minister of State discussed the progress and future visions made in the process of implementation of the policy of reconciliation and inclusion, which aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of the population affected by the conflict and deepen the dialogue and trust based on common interests among the artificially divided societies.
In addition, briefly reviewed the year 2021-2030 approved by the Government of Georgia. Priorities, goals, and tasks of the state strategy of civil equality and integration.
Tea Akhvlediani stressed the importance of close cooperation between the Minister of State and the United Nations Development Agency (UNDP).
The Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed support for the activities of the Minister of State’s Office and expressed full readiness for future cooperation.
