Georgia: The Georgian Minister of State Tea Akhvlediani held a presentation on the unified information portal created for the population affected by the conflict in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
The Unified Information Portal has been designed with the primary purpose of empowering the affected population in the occupied regions. It aims to facilitate their access to a range of beneficial programs, services, and relevant information.
Tea Akhvlediani said, “One of the main dimensions and unchanging priorities of the Georgian government’s peace policy is to take care of the people living in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions and improve their socio-economic conditions.”
“Through peace initiatives that expand opportunities and develop relevant mechanisms, our efforts aim to offer a better future for people affected by conflict, with a critical peace message centered on human and fundamental rights,” the minister added.
“Given that, unfortunately, the Georgian government still has limited access to Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, a unified information portal will create simplified access to interesting information for services or benefits related to healthcare, education, and business. It is for development, civil services, and other areas. I would like, once again, to thank all my colleagues and partner organizations for their contribution to implementing this critical initiative,” – said the Minister of State Tea Akhvlediani.
Together with the Minister of State, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, and the Chairman of the Temporary Commission on Restoration of Territorial Integrity and Deoccupation Issues, Giorgi Volski addressed the gathering. Representatives of Parliament, state agencies, diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, international organizations, public defenders, and civil society also attended the presentation of the Unified Information Portal.
The portal was created at the Minister of State’s initiative, with close inter-agency cooperation with relevant field ministries, civil society engagement, and support from international partners. Starting in September, it will be fully operational in Georgian, English, Abkhazian, and Ossur.
