Georgia: Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Tea Akhvlediani recently held a working dinner meeting with OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu. The Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality also shared details and glimpses of the meeting on their official Facebook account on 23 April, 2025.
The State Minister thanked the OSCE Secretary General for his strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and emphasized the importance of the OSCE’s role and active engagement in the peaceful resolution of the conflict, including through its co-chairmanship of the Geneva International Negotiations.
Tea Akhvlediani introduced the Secretary General to the priorities, goals and objectives of the State Minister’s Office, both in the areas of reconciliation and engagement, and civic equality and integration policies.
The OSCE plays an important role in the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Georgia, taking into account that it is one of the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions and participates in the Ergneti Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism.Â
They discussed in detail with the Secretary General the grave human rights and humanitarian situation in the Abkhazian and Tskhinvali regions of Georgia; in addition, they also discussed the steps taken and planned in the framework of the State Policy of Reconciliation and Engagement.
The meeting aimed at peace initiatives, restoring trust between members of the Georgian-Abkhazian and Georgian-Ossetian societies divided by occupation lines and improving the socio-economic situation of the conflict-affected population.Â
They also discussed with the Secretary General specific ways to further strengthen our possible joint efforts to achieve more tangible results. The State Minister Tea Akhvlediani further stated that they will achieve the results in building peace and ensuring decent conditions for our population and the two parties agreed to continue working together in close partnership.
