Tengiz Nasaridze highlights importance of Agriculture

Tengiz Nasaridze  the Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia  highlighted the importance of the agriculture sector.

Tengiz Nasaridze  the Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia  highlighted the importance of the agriculture sector.

He met Roland Siegwart, Chairman of the Swiss Foundation “Gebert Rüf Stiftung “ and  and urged everyone to take steps to improve the agriculture sector.

Tengiz Nasaridze while speaking during  meeting with the Swiss delegation commented “Encouraging agricultural education will contribute to the development of the agricultural sector.”

Both parties also discussed the issues of promoting agrarian education, attracting young people to the agricultural sector and training them.

“The state will always be the main supporter of training and involving young personnel in agriculture. Sharing the Swiss experience in this direction is very important for us“Tengiz Nasaridze said.

It is worth noting that in 2019 the Swiss Foundation “Gebert Rüf Stiftung” built the “Swiss Agricultural School Caucasus” in the village of Sarkineti which falls under the Dmanisi Municipality.

The school offers students a 3-year professional program in animal husbandry and milk and dairy product processing. The complex also includes a training centre where farmers and amateur farmers can take short-term professional courses.

“Our goal is to ensure the involvement of young people in the development of the agricultural sector and to give it an impetus. We want to introduce innovative projects in your country as well. We are happy when we see such involvement and interest from the state “ said Roland Siegwart Chairman of the Swiss Foundation Gebert Rüf Stiftung.

The Swiss foundation Gebert Rüf Stiftung is focused on implementing innovative projects in agricultural education, promoting the development of new technological breakthroughs and entrepreneurial thinking.

In the meeting  both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the agriculture sector. They also resolved to have urged the respective governments to initiate policies that have the potential to bring change in the agriculture sector.

The Georgian Minister in the end of meeting once again expreeed his gratitude for Swiss foundation. He expressed hopes that this cooperation will go on in the future as well.
