Terjola City Council member leaves the Georgian Dream, criticizes Degnan

Omar Jikhvashvili, a member of the Terjola City Council, also leaves the Georgian Dream and his position and criticizes Kelly Degnan, the US ambassador to Georgia. Members of Lagodekhi and Chiaturi councils joined the MPs who had left their dreams before.

Jikhvashvili writes that Degnan “insults the member of parliament elected by the majority, who dared to write him a letter”.

If several people have to bear the burden of telling such truth from a representative of the ruling party, I understand that it is very difficult, and I want to be in their line. That is why I leave the position of the deputy chairman of the Georgian Dream faction in the Terjoli City Council and the party,” he wrote.

Dimitri Khundadze, Mikheil Kavelashvili and Sozar Subari officially left the Georgian Dream and their parliamentary positions on June 28. The reason was given as “disagreement about what dose of truth should be delivered to the population”. And then they repeatedly spread the anti-Western conspiracy theory among them that granting Georgia the status of a candidate for the European Union “is related to joining the war”. 

Mikheil Kavelashvili, who formally left the Georgian Dream, wrote a letter to the US ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, on July 8. 

It is stated that ” it would be good to protect the image of America if the ambassador would publicly disassociate himself from the provocations carried out by the National Movement “.

In response, Degnan said the letter was “so full of lies and conspiracy theories that he couldn’t read it all the way through .” 

Active members of Georgian Dream called Kelly Degnan’s statement insulting and continued to spread anti-Western conspiracy theories against her.
