Thea Tsulukiani expresses gratitude to Georgian judoists

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, Thea Tsulukiani, thanked Georgian judoists, our nation's pride, for their successful participation in the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, and sent them to their homeland.

Tato Grigalashvili (81 kg) and Ilia Sulamanidze (100 kg) clinched silver medals in the individual event, while Lasha Bekauri (90 kg) secured an Olympic gold medal for the second time, a historic feat. Bekauri also became the first Georgian judoist to celebrate the Olympic Championship twice, a moment of immense pride for our country.

It is noteworthy that, for the first time in history, a Georgian judoist boys team consisting of Lasha Bekauri, Lasha Shavdatuashvili, Ilia Sulamanidze, Eter Liparteliani, Eter Askilashvili, and Sophia Somkhishvili competed in the mixed team competition at the Paris Olympics.

Before their departure, Minister of Culture and Sports Thea Tsulukiani, a beacon of support, met with the Georgian judoists, their coaches, doctors, and representatives of the judo federation in the Olympic Village.

Alongside Leri Khabelov, President of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia, she expressed her gratitude for their successful participation in the Olympics and sent them back to their homeland. The minister also extended her best wishes to those Georgian Olympians who continue to compete in Paris, instilling them with confidence and reassurance.
For those eagerly awaiting their return, the Georgian judoists will touch down in Georgia at 21 hours and 35 minutes, a moment of great anticipation and excitement.

Georgian boxer Lasha Guruli continues to fight for the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Today, Cuban Ireland will face Alvarez Borges in a historic semi-final match.

They remind the public that in the quarterfinals, the athlete beat Kazakh Bazarbai Mohammed Sabir 3:2 and won the bronze medal. Greco-Roman, freestyle, and weightlifting wrestlers will fight for Olympic medals.
