Georgia: The acting Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Thea Tsulukiani, visited the Music College named after Gori Sulkhan Tsintsadze and got acquainted with the famous Georgian musician and pianist Giorgi Vachnadze and his wife, pianist Kiomi Sugimura, with the specifications and infrastructure of the college.
The minister visited the college’s large and small concert halls, library, and auditoriums and heard information about the educational process from the head of the college, Nadezhda Manjavidze. A meeting was held with the college teachers. A college girl’s band led by Nino Tsiklauri performed several musical numbers.
The meeting focused on closer cooperation of music schools with the Tbilisi State Conservatory under the terms of the new head. The minister noted that a month ago, a summary working meeting was held at the Tbilisi Conservatory, where representatives of music schools working in the Ministry will discuss their needs or essential issues.
During the meeting, Thea Tsulukiani thanked the college teachers for their enthusiastic and dedicated work in different periods.
Gori Sulkhan Tsintsadze Music School is a music school with a 50-year history and the only authorized, monoprofile educational institution in Georgia that implements new, fifth-level modular professional programs: pianist-accompanist and music tutor (qualification – highest professional qualification in music art). The college also offers extracurricular music programs (piano, strings, solo singing, and choir conductor) that align with eleven-year music programs.
Distinguished graduates successfully continue their studies in Tbilisi’s Vano Sarajishvili Conservatory and other higher education institutions. Students are participating in various international and national competitions.
Incredibly successful is the college girls’ team (director Nino Tsiklauri), winner of four competitions, several gold medals and special prizes, which participates in all important national events and charity evenings and is recognized as one of the best children’s groups in Georgia.
It is worth noting that within the framework of the competition announced by the Ministry in 2021 – “Instrument renewal in music schools” – Gori Music School was financed by 43 660 GEL and purchased Yamaha’s GB1K PE model Royal.
