Kutaisi, Georgia: Alexander Tsuladze, the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, opened the thematic youth camp at Kutaisi International University (KIU) with a youth dialogue meeting dedicated to the Ministry activities and plans for youth.
During the opening of the camp, Tsuladze emphasized the value of the camp, stating that it is a national step forward for improving policies aimed at this demographic group, which needs to be expanded beyond its current model of a thematic camp.
He emphasized the social and self-development opportunities that youths can take through non-formal education, which is abundant and that the ministry aims to encourage.
This was a “once in a lifetime” event for the camp participants to meet directly with the Minister. Aside from listening to the questions and grievances posed to him, the campers got a chance to understand how the ministry plans to implement its tactics and strategies, directly from the minister.
Thematic Camps in Evia and Peloponnese: A Joint Program
The Minister was joined at the opening ceremony by Acting Head of Youth Agency Vakhtang Baakashvili, Rector of Kutaisi International University Giorgi Khubua and Director of Kutaisi University City Vakhtang Tsagareli.
The thematic camps, planned to take place from 2025 in Kvareli Justice Education Center and Kutaisi University City, are organized by the Youth Agency upon the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth taken into action in 2024.
Georgia Youth Development Initiative
Training sessions that are to be organized in the camps will be diversified to meet candidates expectations. Covers globalization & international issues, mediation & conflict management, opportunities for youth, planning projects and modern technologies.
Now in its second year, the thematic camps are being established as an essential component of Georgia’s approach to youth development, providing not only an educational experience, but a chance for young people to make connections, share ideas, and develop into responsible, active citizens.
