The Third International Theater Festival of Signaghi was opened with the performance of the Borjomi Shota Rustaveli Culture and Arts Center Public Theater “Unameless Star” on June 1, 2025, Sunday. It was opened with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia shared glimpses of the event on its official Facebook page. The Culture Ministry also posted a small note along with the photographs.
According to the note shared by the Ministry, it was noted that within the opening ceremony, the one-act lyrical comedy was released by director Luka Inskirveli. The performance was held in Signaghi Municipal Theater.
Malkhaz Begiashvili, the delegate of Gurjaani, Sagarejo, Dedoplistskaro Sighnaghi, and Saba Aslamazishvili attended the event. They spoke about the importance of the festival at the press conference held before the performance.
The goal of the Signaghi International Theater Festival is to support amateur, public theaters in the country and to integrate with the Georgian theater world. Viewers have the opportunity to attend the performances of public theaters, and amateur and foreign shows near cultural centers of different municipalities.
This year’s festival is larger and eight Georgian and four foreign theaters from Turkey, Romania, United Arab Emirates, and Azerbaijan participate in it.
In addition to the performances selected for the competition, the festival will also host masterclasses in speech, acting, stage movement, music, and others. For the first time the film “Eimunta’s Necroshus – pushing the horizon” will be held at the festival.
However, it should be noted that the festival will be closed on June 8. Performances on I, II, and III places will be presented at the ceremony. Cash prizes will be given to the winning sisters, which will be used for theater purposes.
It is noteworthy that with the promotion of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia and on the initiative of the former Majority MP of Gurjaani, Sagarejo, Dedoplistskaro, and Signaghi David Songhulashvili, the theater festival is held in Sighnaghi in June.
