Tianeti celebrates birthday of Georgian national hero Zurab Yarajuli 

The Birthday of the Georgian national hero, Zurab Yarajuli was traditionally celebrated in the village Zaridze of Tianeti municipality on March 12, 2025, Wednesday.

Tianeti Municipality, Georgia: The Birthday of the Georgian national hero, Zurab Yarajuli was traditionally celebrated in the village Zaridze of Tianeti municipality on March 12, 2025, Wednesday.

The event which was dedicated to the Georgian National hero was hosted by the mayor of Tianeti Municipality Levan Tsiklauri. It should be noted that Zurab Yarajuli will turn 54 years old on March 12.

The City Hall of Tianeti municipality posted glimpses of the celebratory event on its Official Facebook page on March 13, 2025. The city hall also shared the details of the event along with the photographs.

According to the details provided by the Tianeti Municipality city hall, it should be noted that the head of the Church of the Holy Virgin of Tianeti, Archpriest Giorgi Berberashvili, paid a memorial service on the grave of Zurab Yarajuli.

Notably, Dimitri Khundadze, Member of Parliament of Georgia, Delegate of Mtskheta-Mtianeti David Nozadze, State Commissioner of Mtskheta-Mtianets, together with deputies, heads of various services in the region, personnel of the mixed aviation squadron of the Georgian Defense Forces Aviation and Air Defense Forces arrived in the village of Zura, to honor the memory of the national hero.

It should be noted that the officials, along with guests, once again honored the memory of Zurab Yarajuli, decorated the national hero’s grave and memorial with flowers, and also remembered Zura’s heroic history.

According to the Mayor of Tianeti Municipality, Zurab Yarajuli’s love for their country was immeasurable. He noted that, at the age of 22, he heroically sacrificed his life to protect the territorial integrity of his homeland. “We must often remember the heroes and honor their immortal names, whose sacrifice will always be an example for all Georgians,” stated Levan Tsiklauri.

It is worth noting that Zurab Yarajuli died heroically in the Abkhazian War. A military airplane, which surpassed a heroic death in captivity, was awarded the title of National Hero of Georgia on September 19, 2013, on the Day of the Military and Air Force of Georgia.

Zurab Yarajuli, who beat captivity at the age of 22, was awarded the title of National Hero of Georgia on September 19, 2013. Notably, the Senior Lieutenant Yarajuli was also awarded the I degree medal of Vakhtang Gorgasli, after his death.
