Tianeti: – Levan Tsiklauri, the Mayor of Tianeti Municipality have visited Lori River to review ongoing work of Gabion laying. He was accompanied by many other officials as well as representatives of Municipality on this occasion.
The information of this visit is shared by Municipality on official Facebook page of Municipality. The officials shared glimpses of this visit on banks of river. The visting delegation members also interacted with workers who are working there.
It is worth noting that that the local people have expressed concerns many times over the issues of weak banks of river. They demanded multiple time to repair it to prevent any damage to life or property as well.
The official Facebook page of Municipality added, “The mayor of Tianeti Municipality Levan Tsiklauri, together with representatives of relevant services, got acquainted with the construction of Gabion on the bank of the river Iori.”
It further stated that, “This section in the village of Churchelauri has for years been one of the problematic spots on River Iori, posing a threat to the local population. Work is in full swing and will be completed in short time as well. The project involves the restoration of the existing ground dam with 76 meters long and 7 meters high iron-concrete walls and with drainage fences.”
It is also to be noted that, according to the signed contract, the deadline for completion of the works is April 2025. If climate conditions allow, the project will be completed earlier than the deadline. This will reduce problems of local people who said this Lori river has become biggest worry of peoples.
The water level in river is low so it has become easy for workers of construction company to execute construction within time. The iron rod fixed wall will be erected on both sides of riverbank.
This concrete wall will serve as defence in case flood comes on river especially rainy seasons. The project will be implemented with the financing of the Georgian Government, within the framework of the liquidation measures of the results of the element, the cost is 499 670 GEL.
