Batumi, Georgia: The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Guram Guramishvili, took part in the information meeting, which was held at Batumi Maritime Academy.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze and British Ambassador to Georgia Gareth Ward, Rector of the Academy Murtaz Devadze, and Director of the Maritime Transport Agency Ivane Abashidze. During the meeting, the academy’s rector spoke about the achievements of maritime education and future projects during the presentation.
According to the Deputy Minister, the profession of seaman is popular in Georgia, and in recent years, the growing interest among the younger generation has been promoted by the government’s reforms in the maritime sector.
According to Guram Guramishvili, there are new personnel working in the field, whose high professionalism is also evident in employment statistics – the professional standards of Georgian sailors are among the best in the region and are distinguished throughout Europe.
Guests took a tour of the Naval Academy’s training infrastructure, including the Marine Education, Training and Certification Center, the training pool, and the engine department laboratories. Special attention has been paid to the infrastructure of the Maritime Training Centre, including the Bridge Resource Management Simulator, which is fully in line with modern international standards and enables students to pass practical training as close to reality as possible.
After the presentation, the parties also discussed the prospects of deepening future academic cooperation and participating in joint scientific projects.
