Georgia:Â The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Tornike Rizhvadze, attended an archaeological seminar dedicated to the International Day of Monuments and Historic Places.
The seminar, organized by the Adjara Cultural Heritage Protection Agency, was dedicated to the memory of famous archaeologists Amiran Kakhidze and Shota Mamuladze.
Tornike Rizhvadze said, “The seminar related to cultural heritage in Batumi has become a tradition, the scale and format of which is expanding yearly.” It is a pity we lost two prominent scientists, Mr. Amiran Kakhidze and Mr. Shota Mamuladze, this year. Still, we have decided to award their names to the Batumi Archaeological Museum after Mr. Amiran Kakhidze and to the Scientific Research Center after Mr. Shota Mamuladze, which once again marks their contribution and merit in this field.”
“Our cultural heritage is truly a treasure that we are proud of. “When we aspire to be a full-fledged member of the European family, this is not just a political choice; our heritage is the defining identity, which is identical to European culture, and this is another very strong argument for why we deserve to become a full member of the European family,” – noted Tornike Rizhvadze.
Head of Adjara Cultural Heritage Protection Agency Zaur Akhvlediani talked about the programs implemented by the agency and the importance of this day. David Bacikadze, Chairman of the Committee of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Supreme Council, Deputy Minister of Education, Culture and Sports Jemal Surmanidze and Akaki Dzneladze, researchers and scientists from Batumi and different regions of Georgia.
The funding of the Adjara Cultural Heritage Agency is increasing every year. Rehabilitation and conservation of protected cultural heritage monuments in Adjara, archeological research, and marketing support of monuments are underway.
