Georgia: PM attends presentation on tourism and aviation

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze has attended the presentation on tourism and aviation.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze has attended the presentation on tourism and aviation. The tourism sector of Georgia has witnessed tremendous growth in the past years.

The significant report was presented by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. Prime Minister said that tourism contributes for the deepening of relations between peoples, which is an important factor in ensuring Georgia’s security.

PM stated “I am glad to address you regarding two important areas for the development of Georgia i.e tourism and aviation. Both sectors are the most important for the economy of Georgia, which make a special contribution to the development country as well”.

As per the Prime Minister “The aviation industry is always characterized by rapid growth. In particular the international airports of Georgia served a record number of passengers – a total of 6 million passengers”.

It is to be added that “For the first time in history of Georgia 1.5 million passengers were registered at Kutaisi International Airport. In general reasonable expectations are that 2024 will be even more successful. It is also being expected that the revenues from tourism will reach 4.5 billion dollars this year and the international airports of Georgia will serve 6.8 million passengers”.

Prime Minister further added that “ I would like to thank the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development personally the minister as well as the first vice-prime minister of Georgia, Mr. Levan Davitashvili, the deputy minister, Mrs. Mariam Kvrivishvili, who oversees the tourism and aviation sector”.

PM also stated “I also like to thank every employee of the ministry who is involved in the development of this sector. These people have been doing their best for the development of the tourism and aviation industry of Georgia until now. They are doing their best for the overall growth of both sectors, I am sure that their activities will bring serious success to our country in the future”.
