Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with tourism sector representatives

Levan Davitashvili, The first Deputy Prime Minister held a meeting with the representatives of the tourism sector.  The meeting aimed to discuss the future plans of the government’s efforts to attract international tourists to boost the economy.

The conversation of the minister with tourism sector stakeholders also touched on current events in the country. The meeting participants presented their views and information on various challenges related to their operations, including statistics and workload rates.

Both sides further discussed issues initiated by tourism representatives. As mentioned, working meetings with the tourism sector will continue in various formats to ensure important, beneficial decisions and build confidence between the government and private sector.

Levan Davitashvili said that We are maintaining good economic momentum. The recent data for April showed double-digit economic growth, including 18.5% VAT turnover. As we know, economic growth in March was 8.2%, and in the first quarter, the average economic growth index was 7.8%, and April is characterized by economic growth.

 

He further said this is a pretty good economic dynamic, but of course, there are more successful efforts we need to take. We are trying to address every area where there may be any challenge or issue, by having dialogue with field representatives. If our interventions are necessary, we are always ready to intervene; it may be short-term or long-term intervention – we are ready to do whatever is necessary for the promotion of the tourism sector as well.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili and Head of National Tourism Administration Maya Omiadze.Mariam Kvrivishvili while sharing his views, stated 13, 600 flights are planned during this year’s active summer navigation season, most of which will be carried out to Europe. According to the deputy minister, the frequency of flights with the Gulf countries Cooperation Council countries is also increasing.
