Tbilisi, Georgia: The Environmental Service department of Tbilisi City Hall rehabilitated Tsitsishvili Park on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue in the first phase.
Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze got acquainted with Deputy Andria Basilaya about the work carried out on the spot.
Tbilisi’s Mayor said, “Another newly rehabilitated park has been added to the capital.” I remember how difficult the situation was here when we first arrived, but today it’s completely different—green, tidy, lit,” he added.
“Irrigation systems, leisure areas, and attractions suitable for children have been made. This is our attitude towards the city and the Tbilisi people. We won’t stop there. We have many more important projects planned that need to be implemented. Everyone who loves the capital can see how Tbilisi is improving. There are challenges, but we are not afraid because we know what and how to do. The coming years will be even more interesting. The main thing is to have peace and economic development in the country. Without peace, it will be impossible to renovate parks, build recreational areas, introduce new buses, etc,” Kakha Kaladze said.
Along with the Mayor of Tbilisi, the chairman of the City Council, Giorgi Tkemaladze, the head of the Vaki district, David Kvinikadze, Paata Togonidze, the Head of the Civil Service for Environmental Protection, as well as the Majority Deputies of the Georgian Parliament and Tbilisi City Council were present.
Rehabilitation works were carried out in two phases. Last year, 2023, the works of the first phase were completed, and this year, the park, with a total area of 24,600 square meters, was fully rehabilitated.
As part of the rehabilitation, three playgrounds, two training areas, and a football field were completely renovated, the basketball court’s infrastructure was replaced, six recreational pavilions were placed, five mushroom-shaped drinking water fountains, benches and bins were placed, outdoor lighting and video surveillance systems were set up, greening works were carried out, and an irrigation system was also set up in the area.
Large-scale greening works were carried out in the park: an irrigation system was set up, 4 563 plants of different types of green fertilizer were planted, and 14 653 sq.m. of grass cover was planted.
