Georgia: The Rehabilitation of the Tskneti highway has begun in Vaki district. The mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, got acquainted with his deputy, Irakli Bendeliani.
According to the Mayor of Tbilisi, in the first stage, the damaged underground communications will be fully renewed in the rehabilitation area.
“We started rehabilitation works on Tskneti highway. Specifically, this Gardens area has been in a challenging situation: underground communications, Georgian Water and Power networks, and an issue with no pavement and parking spaces. It was all very chaotic, and we needed to get it organized.
First of all, the communications will be completely renewed. Also, the road infrastructure will be sorted, the underground bins will be placed, the sidewalks will be set up, and a new lighting system will be installed. The area will be green and finally very beautiful. The project will be completed at the beginning of October,—said the mayor of Tbilisi.
As Kakha Kaladze noted, taxis are allowed in the rehabilitation area, and car permits have already been issued to local people.
“Taxis are allowed in the rehabilitation area. In addition, up to 5000 bribes are permitted for those who have a car. It was terrific to hear that 5000 vehicles were given out.
Taxis will be available to enter. The road is closed because it is narrow. Due to the safety of the jobs, we have decided to work this way to complete the jobs on time. The bus will not physically run on this section due to the scale of the work. There is no space for a bus to pass. “First of all, safety is important for us; too many people are taking public transport, and buses cannot be allowed categorically,” – said Kakha Kaladze.
Works will be carried out from Tskneti Highway N6 to the new motor bridge. In this section, traffic was restricted both ways. Only local residents living in the rehabilitation area who have been granted special permits are able to move.
To get a car permit, the local community should apply to the chairmen of housing associations, and citizens living in private houses will get licenses at the Vake district council, Tamarashvili N10, or the speech department, located at Paliashvili N41. For this purpose, the Vake district board and the speech department of the board are working on this weekend.
Along with Kakha Kaladze, Head of the Civil Service for Infrastructure Development of Tbilisi City Hall Giorgi Abutidze, Chairman of the City Council and Majority Deputy of Vaki District Giorgi Tkemaladze, Member of Parliament Nodar Turdzeladze were present.
