The Tbilisi State University of Georgia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of IDPs (internally displaced persons) from the occupied territories. The MoU also involves the Ministry of Labour, Health, and Social Protection.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze and the Rector Jaba Samushia on behalf of Tbilisi State University. The main objective of the MoU was to improve the basic facilities for the area’s citizens. The document also details the parties’ priority cooperation directions.
At the same time, the memorandum aims to improve Georgia’s socio-demographic situation so that all citizens can improve their standard of living. The cooperation between both sides will create a scientifically based, solid basis for defining the strategic goals and objectives of Georgia’s socio-demographic development and family stability.
It should also be added that, to analyze the country’s current socio-demographic processes, the university, based on a mutual agreement, provides scientific potential, including the participation of students and doctoral students in joint scientific research and programs will help them . It will also facilitate meetings, public speeches, and lectures for the students’ benefit.
Deputy Minister of Health Giorgi Tsagareishvili professors, and academic staff of Tbilisi State University attended the event. The key speakers on the occasion added that the people from the conflict-affected area who fall under the category of Independent Displaced people faced many problems.
The Tbilisi State University has already stated its commitment to uplift the educational facility in the region where these people are living. The University administration will make every effort to ensure that the educational needs of the citizens are met, instilling a sense of hope for the future.
The Minister of Health, Mikheil Sarjveladze, also expressed his hope that the initiative under the memorandum of understanding will significantly improve the conditions in these areas. His optimism is a source of encouragement for the audience.
He also added that the Government at the centre, as well as the local authorities, needs to make more efforts in this direction. The measures should aimed to help the people of these areas on priority as well.
