Orkhevi, Georgia: The Georgian Defense Forces celebrated Military Police Day with great joy and several wonderful events on June 15, 2025, Sunday. The event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the military police was held in Orkhevi, on the military police’s eastern battalion assembly square.
The Ministry of Defense of Georgia shared glimpses of the event on its official Facebook page on June 16, 2025, Monday. The Ministry also shared some information related to the ceremony along with its photographs.
The Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani and the Commander of Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili congratulated the personnel on their jubilee.
The Minister of Defense of Georgia spoke about the importance of the military police structural unit in the effective functioning of defense forces, thanked military police officers for their dedicated service, and wished them success. The head of the department, Major General of Defense Shalva Shengelia congratulated the representatives of the Military Police Department on their professional day.
The personnel award event also took place, where the top military police officers received their awards. In honor of the event, military police officers received state weaponry, superior medals, and priceless presents. Â
After the official part of the event, the guests explored the displayed equipment and weapons on the territory of the battalion base.
Military Police Department of the Georgian Armed Forces
The Military Police Department of the Georgian Armed Forces was established on the base of the military commandant’s office in 2005. The Police Department of the Defense Forces of Georgia, as a law enforcement structural subdivision, successfully provides discipline in the system of the Ministry of Defense.
As a result of implemented reforms and modernization, the military police support the maneuver sub-divisions in their combat mission. The subdivision actively participates in national and international training.
