Tbilisi: The office of the Prosecution Services of Georgia has charged two people. Both are accused of extortion and collecting a large amount of funds illegally.
It is worth noting that the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia recently filed charges against two persons for helping to extort a large amount of money. They have also been charged with damaging and destroying other people’s belongings with their ill-intention.
On receiving the information, the law agencies ordered an investigation to extract the truth. The investigation was carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. According to the investigation  the accused person helped to extort a large amount of money from a person living abroad in Marneuli municipality.
The investigation further revealed that at the same time  the accused person demanded the victim to pay a large amount of money under the threat of taking their lives and destroying their belongings. When victim persons refuse to accept their illegal demanded, they damage and destroy various types of property which belonged to the victims.
At the conclusion of the investigation  the detainees were charged with sub-paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of Article 25-181 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. This section covers the offense of assisting in extortion, threatening to use violence against the victim and to destroy his belongings, committed as a group in order to receive a large amount of property. Section 187 has also been imposed, presenting subsections “a” and “c” of part 2 of Article E. This defines destroying someone else’s property in a group by setting it on fire.
If the offense is proven against the accused in court, then the accused can be sent to jail  which may vary from 4 to 7 years. It is also worth mentioning that  on the petition of the prosecutor’s office  the court already ordered the sentencing of both defendants to prison as a preventive measure.
