Tbilisi: The Under-18 European Sand Volleyball championship was held for first time in Kachreti of the Georgia. The championship was held with the active support of the Ministry of culute and sports of Republic of Georgia.
In this first-time-held tournament thirty four countries participated in the continent’s championship. The male and female teams of the participating countries competed to record a win over the other team. It is worth noting that on this occasion the three teams of girls and boys recorded a historical victory and defended Georgia’s honor.
The pair of Luka Janelidze and Irakli Subelian who participated in the continental championship for the first time won the first game by displaying their wonderful gaming skills against the rival team.
On the other hand among the girls’ teams the Austria squad proved itself and won the European competition. Austria became the champion by defeating the Swiss team in the final match. Similarly the Italian team also won the title in the boys’ category. They beat the Germans in the final game to make the country proud on this occasion.
Giorgi Arabuli the Deputy Head of the Sports Department of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia attended the teams’ final matches. He was accompanied by Giorgi Kartvelishvili the President of the National Volleyball Federation of Georgia. Giorgi Arabuli was awarded the title of European champion pair of boys.
It is also worth mentioning that in 2024, with the support of the Ministry of Sports the country also hosted the European Snow Volleyball Championship. The championship of the continent was held in Bakuriani. Meanwhile the chief guest here congratulated the championship organizers. They also appreciated the Georgian team for its excellent performance in this championship which was held for the first time in the country.
The Deputy head of the Ministry of Culture and Sports specifically underlined the role of sports culture in the overall development of any country. According to him sports are mandatory to boost a country’s healthy lifestyle.
