Tbilisi: Robin L. Danigan US Ambassdor to Georgia joined the the 16-day campaign to end violence against women and girls. she stresses the joint and collective effort to prevent gender-based violence.
The non-government organisation CARE Caucasus took to social media on this development of the US ambassador’s participation in the Sixteen Day Campaign. NGOs like CARE Caucasus,Women Information Centres, etc, are organising many conferences and sessions to make aware the general public on Gender violence.
While posting on social media, the NGO stated, “We are excited to have the opportunity to have Ambassador Robin L on our campaign against gender violence. Let’s make Danigan’s message sound from our platform! Ambassador Robin L. Danigan calls on leaders around the world – “Unite! Make efforts to end violence against women and girls; only with united efforts can we create an environment women women-friendly”.
It is a great pleasure to have the voice of Ambassador Dunnigan’s message from our platform. As this sixteen-day campaign is an international drive against gender-based violence, many organisations in Georgia are also spreading awareness among the general public on this issue.
The prosecution office of Georgia is also a part of the sixteen-day campaign. They also make many arrests in connection with Gender-based violence. As per the Government data, Gender based violenc is still one of the biggest problems in Georgia. Moreover, women are the number one victim of gender-related crime in the Country.
Many famous personalities and dignitaries across the Country have already joined the campaign against this inhuman practice of gender-based violence. These Personalities and dignitaries are calling upon the general public to join hands with each other to eliminate this extreme kind of violence against women.
It is worth mentioning that many international organisations are also part of the initiative to make the world a safe place for women.
