Kutaisi, Georgia:Â Based on the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) signed between Kutaisi International University (KIU) and Kutaisi City Hall, a new innovative space – UniverCity will be created in Kutaisi.
The memorandum was signed by the acting rector of KIU, the director of the city of Kutaisi University, Vakhtang Tsagareli, and the mayor of Kutaisi, David Eremeishvili, on April 15, 2026, Wednesday.
Representatives of the administration of Kutaisi International University and the Kutaisi local self-government attended the event. The concept of the new space aims to popularize Kutaisi as a leading university city, which is in line with the country’s educational reform initiated by the Georgian government.
Within the framework of this vision, Kutaisi acquires the most important educational function in West Georgia, which gives the city a unique chance to become a center of important, interesting self-realization and development for young people.
UniverCity space will be located in the central square of Kutaisi. A unique project unites the four most important directions. Along with the development of digital skills, artificial intelligence, and STEM systems, cultural, social, and cognitive events are actively taking place here. The environment will also provide special services tailored to the interests of young people, relaxing comfort zones, and spaces for business meetings.
Educational institutions have the opportunity to plan and implement their own projects, invite guests, and hold public discussions with the participation of pupils in this space.
In addition, the hub will feature KIU’s European standards curriculum and detailed information about the region’s distinguished university campus.
UniverCity will also play an important role from the tourist point of view, because the visitors of the city will get to know the role of Kutaisi as a historical and modern educational center. The project further solidifies KIU’s positioning as an innovation and entrepreneurial hub, perfectly in line with the overall development strategy of the city.
